A Hands On Course in Pulp Therapy and Restorative Dentistry in Pediatric Dentistry for a half day lecture

This course uses the best of the full day hands on lecture's products, materials and equipment but condenses the information into a half day time frame it will cover the latest pulp therapy techniques in primary teeth and the use of new dental restorative materials in Pediatric Dentistry.  The topic of pulp therapy will include Biodentine pulpotomies, Cvek pulpotomies for dental trauma, indirect pulp caps with GIC, and the Hall Technique.  The restorative component will discuss new composites and their use in the Slot Prep, SDF (Silver Diamine Fluoride), and when to use SDF for SMART (Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Technique).

Objectives:

 

  1.  List and describe the steps and indications for a Biodentine pulpotomy
  2.  Know the indications, contraindications, and the steps for an indirect and direct pulp caps
  3.  Describe the steps for a Slot Prep using GIC and new esthetic restorative materials
  4.  Describe the indications and the steps for Silver Diamine Fluoride and when to use the SMART Technique

 

Learning Goals:

 

  1.  Attendees will learn the indications and the steps for a Biodentine pulpotomy
  2.  Attendees will learn the indications and contraindications for a GIC indirect pulp cap
  3.  Attendees will learn how to do a Slot Prep and use new restorative materials
  4.  Attendees will learn when to use the Hall technique
  5.  Attendees will learn the advantages of SDF and when to use SDF and how to incorporate the SMART technique

 

In the Hands-on part of the course:

 

  1.  Attendees will do a Biodentine pulpotomy on dentiform teeth
  2. Attendees will ‘restore’ a dentiform tooth with new composites and glass ionomer cements using the Garrison Matrix System
