Course: Hall Technique
Objectives:
An evidence-based, minimally invasive treatment option for the management of severe early childhood caries is the Hall technique. It’s known that caries is a biofilm disease, and carious lesions are the result of a dysbiosis in the Biofilm. Systematic reviews demonstrate that complete caries removal is not necessary for caries management in an otherwise healthy, asymptomatic tooth. Instead, placing a sealed restoration like a Stainless Steel Crown is preferred for caries management. This minimally invasive approach is particularly advantageous for young, apprehensive patients, who may otherwise require sedation for traditional surgical interventions. This session will discuss the indications, contraindications, and the simple steps to doing this very successful procedure. Participating clinicians will be able to use this treatment modality in everyday clinical practice.
