Pediatric Pulp Exposure Due to Trauma: Treatment and Management (Hands On)

Goals:

  1. Recognize a pulp exposure due to trauma
  2. Manage and follow up on teeth that are involved in dental trauma
  3. Proper application of tricalcium silicates in teeth with traumatic injury
  4. Understand which dental materials and techniques to use in dental anesthetics

Objectives:

  1. Take a proper dental trauma history and be able to apply and describe the AAE’s dental trauma guidelines.
  2. List the steps for mixing and placing a tricalcium silicate, Biodentine for Direct Pulp Caps
  3. Apply, to a traumatized tooth, a specific tooth prep involving multiple bevels for the best aesthetic outcome after trauma
  4. Describe the steps for restoring an uncomplicated enamel fracture for the best aesthetic outcomes

Hands-On Portion:

  1. Anterior tooth with a broken crown
  2. Beveling technique to make fracture line disappear
  3. Anterior matrix system from Garrison
  4. Pulp Therapy with Biodentine

Case studies will be presented of the most common injuries so that you will be able to confidently identify, recognize and treat any type of dental injury including pulp exposures with greater than 90% success.  Apply this information the next day in your office!
